It is not only national language of Pakistan but Urdu is also one of two official languages of Pakistan.

The word Urdu has a Turkish origin which means 'camp'. It was formulated by the interaction of foreign army, merchants and immigrants to India. Urdu established under Persian, Arabic and Turkic influence over the course of almost 900 years.

Urdu involves numerous elements of Arabic as well as Persian; its vocabulary contains approximately 50% Farsi and the rest being a mix of Arabic and Turkish. It also derives some matter from Sanskrit. In recent times; Urdu has absorbed many English and Hindi terms following the effects of globalization. The language is versatile and has the potential to expand and grow to fulfill the needs of modern times

Urdu Language IN PAKISTAN

Pakistan was built on firm grounds with Urdu to remain as the language of prestige and greatest articulacy. URDU is used in education, literature, office and court business, media, and in religious institutions. It is widely spoken and understood. It holds in itself a repository of the cultural, religious and social heritage of the country.

Urdu is a language full of charm and elegance and expresses human feelings, passion of love and the beauty of nature in a very melodious and elegant manner.

Urdu Language Downfall

The negative fact is however, that today as the Pakistani society is losing its cultural charms and it is also careless towards its native language because English is becoming a global communication tool. So, over the years when the people of Pakistan worked towards progress they had no other choice but to adopt English and Urdu has gone in to the background. Although locals of Pakistan have had to take up English as a primary language, and in the process the mother tongue is long lost. But still many feel that the charm of expressing your thoughts in Urdu is not matched in any other form of language.

FUTURE Of Urdu

Future of Urdu isn’t looking bright at present. Some believes that Urdu will soon be forgotten. Urdu requires an effort from our nation to keep it self-alive.

Things to Do

The government, computer industry, printing industry and all other concerned organization need to make concerted efforts to keep Urdu alive. Long term, projects should be initiated to translate English books on sciences into the Urdu language. Urdu should be declared as the only official language of Pakistan.
<img width='1' height='1' Gigabit Ethernet?

Fast Ethernet is a local area network transmission standard that provides a data rate of 100 megabits per second and it can negotiate speed (10 or 100) and duplex (half or full) with the other side of the link, moreover Fast Ethernet provides faster throughput for video, multimedia, graphics, Internet surfing and stronger error detection and correction.whereas Ethernet is the most widely-installed local area network technology.,which can provide data transfer rate of 3 ~10 Mbps and usually doesn't provide auto-negotiation.<br nominal data rate of 10 Gbit/s, ten times as fast as Gigabit Ethernet.many attributes of 1000 mbps Ethernet are retained in the 1000BASE-T standards.
<img The case, which began in 2007 and was granted class-action status in February 2008, claims that Home Basic is not representative of the Vista that Microsoft marketed to consumers.

Earlier this month, the plaintiffs in the Vista Capable case asked U.S. District Court Judge Marsha Pechman to make Microsoft use the update service to send all Windows users a notice of the class-action lawsuit. The notice, which would pop-up on users' screens, would include a link to a site where consumers could obtain more information.

Windows Update is best known for delivering security patches on the second Tuesday of each month, although it has also been used by Microsoft to push non-security-related updates and to patch third-party products. It has not been used for legal messages such as the one proposed by the plaintiffs' lawyers.

"The Court should deny Plaintiffs' attempt to hijack Microsoft's Windows Update service to distribute class notice," the objection filed today read. "Microsoft has told consumers and businesses that it uses Windows Update for software updates to the Windows operating system, never for general informational messages. Plaintiffs' plan, however, would use Windows Update to foist irrelevant notice on persons owning over 120 million PCs that are not the subject of this case, who should not be forced to spend time reading a notice that, as to them, amounts to spam."

Microsoft also argued that users would revolt if Windows Update was used for something other than updates. "Distribution of notice via Windows Update would likely cause some users to be upset that Microsoft acted contrary to their expectations," said the company's objection, "and they may go so far as to turn off Windows Update and lose the important protections that it provides."

The company has already faced users angry about how Microsoft uses Windows Update. A 2006 lawsuit, for example, accused Microsoft of misleading users when it delivered an update for its Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) antipiracy software via the service. That suit, which has sought class-action status, is ongoing. Microsoft, in fact, acknowledged the earlier lawsuit in its filing Wednesday.

Microsoft never has used Windows Update to distribute promotions, advertisements, news, or other general information to users' computers," the company claimed today. "Nor has Microsoft ever been ordered to use Windows Update to distribute class notice."

It also argued that the notice would focus needless attention on the case and cost the company money in support. "With more than 120 million PCs unrelated to this case receiving the notice, many users with no interest in the litigation inevitably will be uncertain what it means for a class action notice to appear suddenly on their PC," the company said. "Some surely will contact Microsoft technical support to deal with the unexpected use of Windows Update. Plaintiffs' obligation to deliver class notice should not be used to jeopardize Microsoft's customer relations or impose customer support costs."

Microsoft objected to the plaintiffs' call that it pay for the class member notification program, which would also involve advertisements in print and on the Web.

The Vista Capable case is perhaps best known for the hundreds of internal Microsoft e-mails Pechman made public earlier this year. The messages detailed top Microsoft executives' problems with Vista shortly after it was released.

Microsoft declined to comment further about its filing today. Its lawyers, however, have requested an oral argument before Pechman about the use of Windows Update and other proposals by the plaintiffs concerning notification of potential members of the class.

From http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&taxonomyName=Windows&articleId=9117265&taxonomyId=125&pageNumber=2

Third Google founder emerges

Hubert Chang has claimed that, alongside co founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, he created Google in 1997.

Chang has recorded a video explaining that he was indeed part of the creation team, giving his reasons as to why he has never been recognised for this feat of genius.

The video was uploaded back in 2007, but has started circulating tech sites in a big way since last Tuesday. In the clip, Chang explains, "After viewing this tape, some people might think I'm lying, some might think I'm crazy, some might be upset, while others will consider I'm honest. But the tape has to be made."

Chang also speaks of how he was introduced to Page and Brin in 1997 by Stanford computer science professor Rajeev Motwani, he claims it was shortly after this introduction that the three of them began to collaborate on the search engine.

However, when Larry and Sergey asked him in September 1997 if he would like to put his name on the academic paper that first described Google's Web page ranking system, Chang declined. He says this was in order to focus on his PhD dissertation at NYU – bet he has regretted that one ever since.

Chang says that after completing his PhD he tried to contact Page and Brin, but heard nothing at all from them – which was what gave him the idea of recording this video. “It’s been ten years, and I think this information needs to be known."

It is unclear as to why Chang has taken so long to tell the rest of the world this information, and why he’s not pushing harder than a few emails to get in contact with them.

How Wall Street Lied to Its Computers

So where were the quants?
NYSE(Credit: Fred R. Conrad/The New York Times)

That’s what has been running through my head as I watch some of the oldest and seemingly best-run firms on Wall Street implode because of what turned out to be really bad bets on mortgage securities.

Before I started covering the Internet in 1997, I spent 13 years covering trading and finance. I covered my share of trading disasters from junk bonds, mortgage securities and the financial blank canvas known as derivatives. And I got to know bunch of quantitative analysts (”quants”): mathematicians, computer scientists and economists who were working on Wall Street to develop the art and science of risk management.

They were developing systems that would comb through all of a firm’s positions, analyze everything that might go wrong and estimate how much it might lose on a really bad day.

We’ve had some bad days lately, and it turns out Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and maybe some others bet far too much. Their quants didn’t save them.

I called some old timers in the risk-management world to see what went wrong.

I fully expected them to tell me that the problem was that the alarms were blaring and red lights were flashing on the risk machines and greedy Wall Street bosses ignored the warnings to keep the profits flowing.

Ultimately, the people who ran the firms must take responsibility, but it wasn’t quite that simple.

In fact, most Wall Street computer models radically underestimated the risk of the complex mortgage securities, they said. That is partly because the level of financial distress is “the equivalent of the 100-year flood,” in the words of Leslie Rahl, the president of Capital Market Risk Advisors, a consulting firm.

But she and others say there is more to it: The people who ran the financial firms chose to program their risk-management systems with overly optimistic assumptions and to feed them oversimplified data. This kept them from sounding the alarm early enough.

Top bankers couldn’t simply ignore the computer models, because after the last round of big financial losses, regulators now require them to monitor their risk positions. Indeed, if the models say a firm’s risk has increased, the firm must either reduce its bets or set aside more capital as a cushion in case things go wrong.

In other words, the computer is supposed to monitor the temperature of the party and drain the punch bowl as things get hot. And just as drunken revelers may want to put the thermostat in the freezer, Wall Street executives had lots of incentives to make sure their risk systems didn’t see much risk.

“There was a willful designing of the systems to measure the risks in a certain way that would not necessarily pick up all the right risks,” said Gregg Berman, the co-head of the risk-management group at RiskMetrics, a software company spun out of JPMorgan. “They wanted to keep their capital base as stable as possible so that the limits they imposed on their trading desks and portfolio managers would be stable.”

One way they did this, Mr. Berman said, was to make sure the computer models looked at several years of trading history instead of just the last few months. The most important models calculate a measure known as Value at Risk — the amount of money you might lose in the worst plausible situation. They try to figure out what that worst case is by looking at how volatile markets have been in the past.

But since the markets were placid for several years (as mortgage bankers busily lent money to anyone with a pulse), the computers were slow to say that risk had increased as defaults started to rise.

It was like a weather forecaster in Houston last weekend talking about the onset of Hurricane Ike by giving the average wind speed for the previous month.

But many on Wall Street did even worse, as Mr. Berman describes it. They continued to trade very complex securities concocted by their most creative bankers even though their risk management systems weren’t able to understand the details of what they owned.

A lot of deals were nonstandard in many ways, “so you really had to go through the entire prospectus and read every single line to pick up all the nuances,” Mr. Berman said. “And that slows down the process when mortgage yields looked very attractive.”

So some trading desks took the most arcane security, made of slices of mortgages, and entered it into the computer if it were a simple bond with a set interest rate and duration. This seemed only like a tiny bit of corner-cutting because the credit-rating agencies declared that some of these securities were triple-A. (20/20 hindsight: not!) But once the mortgage market started to deteriorate, the computers were not able to identify all the parts of the portfolio that might be hurt.

Lying to your risk-management computer is like lying to your doctor. You just aren’t going to get the help you really need.

All this is not to say that the models would have gotten things right if only they were fed the most accurate information. Ms. Rahl said that it was now clear that the computers needed to assume extra risk in owning a newfangled security that had never been seen before.

“New products, by definition, carry more risk,” she said. The models should penalize investments that are complex, hard to understand and infrequently traded, she said. They didn’t.

“One of the things that has caused great pain is complex products,” Ms. Rahl said.

That made me think back to some of the great trading debacles of the last century, such as the collapse of Askin Capital Management, a hedge fund that fell apart because of complex mortgage security investments gone bad. Wasn’t the moral of those stories that you shouldn’t put your money (or your client’s money) in something you didn’t understand? Furthermore, even if you are convinced you do understand it, you’re not going to be able to sell it when you need the money if no one else does.

“In some ways there is nothing new,” said Ms. Rahl, who helped investigate what went wrong at Askin. “The big deals are front-page news, then they go into the recesses of people’s memories.”

And, ultimately, the most important risk-management systems are the ones that have gray hair. “It’s not just the Ph.D.’s who must run risk management,” Ms. Rahl said. “It is the people who know the markets and have lifelong perspective.” And at too many firms it is those people who failed to make sure the quants really did their jobs.

Myspace layouts and Backgrounds

Brunkspace.com is providing hundreds of cool Myspace layouts and backgrounds to make your myspace beautiful. I must say I’m quite impressed with this phone. I know it won the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) award for ‘The European Media Phone of the Year 2007-2008′, and the TIPA award for the ‘Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe 2007′ but my previous phone was the Nokia N91! And the N91 is quite a good phone though it is a bit big.

For starters, the N95 is much more ergonomic and a bit smaller, but with bigger buttons that are easier to press. It also has a bigger 2.6 inch screen compared to the N91’s 2.2 inch screen so browsing the internet is more of a pleasure. Plus its video playback looks sharper and better. The N95 feels much lighter on top of that! It fits better in my pocket too. But the one thing that really impressed me was the camera, a 5-megapixel camera at that! It easily beat the N91’s 2-megapixel camera and it has a flash! And the picture quality is amazing with no noticeable graining. In fact it’s as good, if not better than my 5-megapixel digital camera! If the N95 had a digital zoom I probably would leave the digital camera at home more often than not.

The one thing that the N95 phone has that wasn’t on the N91 is integrated GPS. Even there Nokia seems to have made a good job. It’s a pity though that turn-by-turn navigation comes as an additional service.

One thing though, the N95 only supports up to 2GB memory whereas the N91 has a 4GB hard drive! But the sound quality from the built-in stereo speakers is better. I know there’s an 8GB N95 in the pipeline but my contract with Orange was up for renewal, so the timing was out. Hopefully I can do a swap for the N95 8GB when it gets released, then I wouldn’t need to carry an iPod around as well.

Get The Rankings You Want

__________________________________________________ _____
Introduction
Where do you rank on the World Wide Web? It's not enough to have a website; you have to get ranked on the first page to get noticed. Right now, one of the most powerful ways to rocket to the top of search engine results, even for the most competitive keywords

Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines,Search engine optimization (SEO) ensures that your website copy is written and structured in a way that improves chances that your website will be found when someone performs a search. For example, if your company sells insurance, you'd use words or phrases such as life insurance, insurance quote, insurance agent, or home insurance.

Content

Write articles that grab the interest of readers right now. Include case studies and whitepapers on your site that will give your visitors a reason to always come back. Or even chëck out what's going on in the news and be there first to report changes that impact your industry.

Search engine spiders are looking for sites that are periodically updated with rich content. Do not offër content that isn't useful. Some people try to place content that is rich in keywords but doesn't offër the incoming traffíc anything beneficial. Low traffíc will equal lower rankings with top search engines. The idea behind rich content with specific keywords is that because you keep posting content, soon you will be ranked within the search engines for specific words. So, when I post articles about the different insurance rates and options, etc.; when an on-line visitor is searching for this info they will land on your site and may become potential clients.

Content must be used to provide new and interesting information that your reader wants to know about, offër helpful tips, or solve a problem. This content will get you link-backs which are excellent for driving traffíc. You can also post articles through authentic submission sites, and that will also generate a lot of traffíc. Many companies publish with different online magazines etc., not only to prove their expertise but also to gain more traffíc linking to their sites.

Offer Resources
Offër resources that will help your reader. For instance, if you are an insurance agent, and you want to attract new clients, offër a comparison chart of all the insurance agencies in the area so your user can make an objective decision. At first, it seems like the insurance company is driving business away that way. Not so. If you offër your users resources that benefit them, they will come back for more when they are searching again.

Link It Up
Linking to other websites is a great way to íncrease your page ranking. Linking to other websites raises credibility in the eyes of the search engines. Who should you link to? Provide links to websites that offër a similar product or service as you do, or websites that are industry related. A spa can link to its beauty suppliers, for example. Ask them if they will provide a link to your website, and remember to offër to link to theirs in return. You can also submít articles to directories or credible article submission websites to gain links. Good articles and resources will get you bookmarked and potentially linked to by other users.

Include a Site Map
Generate a site map that links to every page in your site. Search engines like pages that can be accessed easily, so make sure your important pages remain in the first or second level.

Make Changes
Every month or two go back and update or make changes to your website. If you let it become stale, the search engines will toss you out like yesterday's news. Update it to generate new interest. Another great way is to add a daily blog. This will ensure that your content is updated daily and stays fresh.

Live Bookmarks
Updates happen all the time. A live bookmark keeps track of updates and lets you know that information has changed, rather than you checking to see if websites have made additions. By providing live bookmarks, you are increasing your traffíc and ranking because people will come back to you sooner, and more often.

RSS Feeds
Create an RSS Feed. RSS or Rich Site Syndication is a file format used by publishers to make their content available to others in a format that is universal. RSS is a way to publish content and update it in real time. This is where the name 'blog' originated from web (from the World Wide Web) and log (as in keeping a log). It's not the hardest mouthful of words to pronounce, but it's been shortened to blog all the same.
There's much more to blogging than individuals writing down their daily routine in a diary-like way.Of the main blogging sites on the web, two immediately spring to mind: Blogger and LiveJournal but I have got some thing different for you.
And that is
http://www.beklo.com
Beklo.com is the free Blog Hosting Site. You have a standard interface offering formatting options (font, size, colour etc.) with some tools for adding pictures and links to other sites. You can edit your work in a standard WYSIWYG (what you see if what you get) view as you would in Word or a modern word processing program or you can delve right in and edit the HTML directly. I've only ever used the WYSIWYG interface and basic HTML tags, so cannot comment on how much HTML you can use.

Do,t forget to visit

Allah’s Messenger said

Narrated ‘Abdullâh bin ‘Abbâs : Allah’s Messenger said that Allah the Glorious said, “Verily, Allah has ordered that the good and the bad deeds be written down. Then He explained it clearly how (to write):He who intends to do a good deed and he does not do it, then Allah records it for him as a full good deed, but if he carries out his intention, the Glorious and the Great Allah writes it down for him with Him as from ten to seven hundred times, and even many times more. But if he intends to do an evil act and has not done it, then Allah writes it down with Him as a full good deed, but if he intends it and has done it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed.
